Lakshmi Automatic Loom Works Limited

Lakshmi Automatic Loom Works Limited (LAL) is the result of collaboration between Ruti and Sulzer Brothers of Switzerland and Lakshmi Mills. The company is an ambitious Rs. 90-million project and produces upward of 5000 automatic looms annually.

Educational Institutions

The Lakshmi Mills Group, in conjunction with the Kuppuswamy Naidu Charity Trust for Education and Medical Relief, has various educational institutions under its banner. They are spread across various locations and cover the gamut of the educational spectrum.

Mani Feeder School, Coimbatore

Mani Feeder School, started in 1968 has a very human approach to kindergarten education. It provides excellent facilities for play, recreation, learning and other activities for its 500-strong student body.

Mani Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore

Right from its inception in 1954, Mani Higher Secondary School has enjoyed the permanent recognition of the Department of Education. With bilingual mediums of instruction (Tamil and English) the school is co-educational and caters to the physical as well as educational needs of the children. Every class has only an optimum number of 40 students and operates on a shift system. The school is moving towards its golden anniversary and has an active Alumni Association.

The Lakshmi Mills Higher Secondary School, Kovilpatti

Started in the year 1966, the Lakshmi Mills Higher Secondary School stands as a paragon of educational capabilities in Kovilpatti. Its students excel in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. The school’s alumni include three national level hockey champions. Not to be out done, the faculty too have proved their mettle by bagging the Best Teacher Award consecutively in 1994, 1995 and 1996. From 1997, the school has also posted 100% success results in its SSLC and Higher Secondary Examinations.
G Venkataswamy Naidu College, Kovilpatti

This institution of higher learning, situated at Kovilpatti and spread over 85 acres, was started in the year 1966. Through the years, it has incorporated the main disciplines of undergraduate courses. It was the first college to offer a degree course in B.Sc. Electronics affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University and a popular course in Costume Design and Fashion. The College has student strength of 800 both in the Aided and Self-Financing streams.

Sengadu Vocational Training Centre, Coimbatore

Understanding the need for the importance of vocational training, this center was started in 1989. Short-term practical training is offered in refrigeration technology, automobile maintenance and tailoring & weaving. The students, women, in particular have benefited greatly from these courses and have bloomed into highly acclaimed entrepreneurs.
